Past Speakers

Dr Paul de Sousa of Edinburgh University gave an interesting talk on embryonic stem cell research at our meeting in March 2006.

Professor Adam Zeman was formerly a consultant neurologist at the Western General Hosital, Edinburgh. He is currently working as Professor of Cognitive and Behavioural Neurology at the Mardon Neuro-Rehabilitation Centre in Exeter. He gave Branch members a fascinating talk on Ataxia in September 2000. This is available as a pdf file: Adam Zeman's Talk

Professor Zeman has written a book called 'Consciouness, A User's Guide' published in 2002 by Yale University Press (New Haven and London). It's a fascinating guide to the contents and origins of consciousness, including sections on the nervous system, vision, memory and action - available at Amazon.co.uk for £12.50 (from £5.22 used) or from Amazon.com for $12.60 (from $4.35 used). I enjoyed reading it: it's interesting and not too technical.
