2007 Branch 'Christmas' Meal

We held a Branch meal (high tea) in Lasswade at the Laird and Dog Hotel following our 17 November 2007 meeting. It was much better value than in 2005! (see below). The prices were very resonable with a wide selection of bar meals and a substantial dinner menu. It was so successful we are likely to repeat it in 2008. See the photos from this event.

The Second Joint Event with West of Scotland Branch

Following the very successful and enjoyable get together in 2006, we had another joint meeting on Saturday 28 April 2007 from 2 - 5pm at the Alona Hotel, Strathclyde Country Park. There were sandwiches and cream scones this time, as well as a good blether! To see some photos from the 2007 meeting, follow this link.

Branch Christmas Lunch on Sunday 4 December 2005

We celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Branch with a Christmas lunch at the Royal Terrace Hotel, Edinburgh on Sunday 4 December. The venue was attractive, with views of the hotel garden rising at the back and the staff were friendly, especially the barman...BUT!!

The meal cost £14.95 per person, and for that we each got a reasonable amount of turkey, accompanied by ONE kilted sausage, TWO sprouts, TWO slices of carrot and THREE small roasted potatoes each. How mean can you get? - and how silly, considering how cheap vegetables are and that they have now lost a lot of potential customers in the future, none of us will ever go back. As we'd paid in advance for the meal, in full, and some people were ill on the day, the cost worked out even more per person. The 'disabled' toilet facilities were also unsatisfactory, because despite being on the same level, the door was too narrow for getting in with a wheelchair or walking frame. We made the best of it though and had a jolly time - here are some photos to prove it!

Past Social events - photo gallery

We like to get together for a blether and in the past have enjoyed BBQs, train trips, boat / barge trips from Ratho, the Scottish Parliament, Dynamic Earth and meals out. Here is a link to the photo gallery where you can see some pictures of us having a good time at the September BBQ.

Current Social Activities

We organised a BBQ at Almondell Country Park (picture below) on Saturday 24 September 2005. Pictures from this event are on the photo page. Frances arranged a boat trip to the Falkirk Wheel on Sunday 13 August 2006. What other events are you interested in? Let us know by emailing info@ataxia-east-scotland.org.uk
